Regional Films : The Power within
The medium of film is like.... ("Simtey toh dil-e-aashiq, failey toh zamana hai!") ...when it is fold, it will be like, heart of the lover & when it is unfold (spread) it will be like the whole universe!
World's best feature films are made in Iran & Korea. Marathi film 'Vishwas' got worldwide appreciation (This proves the power of regional films) This shows that language has nothing to do, if it is wisely expressed through actions & emotions. Moreover it doesn't effects the quality & class of the film too.
Tamil film industry is second large after hindi cinema. Many remake is been made from tamil to hindi.
Bengali cinema got name & fame in the times of Satyajit Ray, His first film, Pather Panchali (1955), won eleven international prizes, including Best Human Documentary at the Cannes film festival. This film, Aparajito (1956) and Apur Sansar (1959) form The Apu Trilogy. Ray did the scripting, casting, scoring, and editing, and designed his own credit titles and publicity material. Ray received many major awards in his career, including 32 Indian National Film Awards, a number of awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies, and an Academy Honorary Award in 1992.

(I am quite sad to see Gujarati movies is loosing charm in Gujarat too! Because producers are making films just to get the govt. subsidy/ tax-free benefits!? Let's hope for a better future for deshi gujju movies!)
In short, Regional cinema will get notice. It will, because of its capability.
A very good site for Regional Cinema : www.culturalindia.net/indian-cinema/regional-cinema.html
